As a technical solution, hydronic radiant heating is simple yet elegant, and dates back to the early 1700s in Sweden. Fluid is heated in a boiler, pumped around pipes to heat emitters, and these radiate the heat naturally into the air.

In 2018, Alde's latest innovation in mobile heating arrives in North America. The Compact 3020 High Efficiency combination boiler, powering hydronic radiant heating and domestic hot water.

The heating fluid is propylene glycol antifreeze (ethylene glycol in Europe), and as it's heated, it exchanges heat through a stainless steel jacket with the domestic hot water (DHW) cylinder. If the DHW cylinder is full, the water is heated and also acts as an insulator, if it's empty, air is heated but no damage can result.

The boiler's computerised electronics use 12 V power, and the heating uses 120 V electric and/or propane gas. Motorised vehicles can also gain supplemental heat from diesel via the Alde engine heat exchanger.

Compact 3020 has intuitive, programmable controls with a colour touchscreen, and a computerised back-end. Alloyed with the mixed metal heat exchanger and aluminium heat emitters, this makes the Alde system over 93% efficient in a SEDBUK-based test.
